Prioritise Your Sleep

Start by making sure you’re getting enough sleep each night. Many successful people live off little sleep and people praise them for it, but there are many successful people who prioritize 8 hours a night and have lots to show for it, too. Living off little sleep isn't impressive, and there’s no prize to be won. By making sure you get the rest you need, you should feel less anxious and more in control of your day.

Most of all, try to get up in the morning with some space before you have to get moving. So make sure you have enough time to sit and read a book with a hot drink, take a shower, and get ready in a leisurely way. If you don’t find this time in the morning, you won’t be able to find it for the rest of the day. How you start the day truly matters.

Just Step Back for 60 Seconds

If you’re in the midst of something that feels chaotic and you’re stressed, step back for 60 seconds. Just take 1 minute to step away and breathe. You might think ‘I don’t have time!’ — but this is even more reason to do it. Gain some perspective.

Use a Mantra

Using a mantra can help if you’re feeling anxious. You can tailor it to your situation, but you could try ‘Everything is OK’ or something like that.

Live In the Present Moment

Living in the present moment is essential if you want to feel calmer. Worrying about what happened in the past is pointless as you can’t change it. Overthinking the future is pointless as it hasn’t happened yet. Bring your full self into this moment and focus on what you need to focus on. You may need to train your brain to do this, but it can be done.

Write Down Your Worries

Writing things out, getting them out of your brain and onto paper can be a huge relief. Even if you just try bullet lists you might find it helpful.

Fuel Your Body Right

Fuel your body with things that help you to feel energized and capable. Living off coffee and fast food will catch up with you and you won’t feel good. You could even consider a supplement like cbd gummies to ease stress and anxiety, but you should always do your own research first.

Get Away From the News

The news can make everything feel so much worse. Only stay up to date with what’s important, and turn it off.

Find a Way to Wind Down

Make sure you have a few ways to wind down, whether this is reading a book, taking a bath, or other forms of self care.
